STL Teacher Trading Post was developed for teachers only in the St.Louis Metro area. Teachers can post items that want to get rid of for a price or give away for free. They can also post items they want for their classrooms. They can also post any services such as tutoring, subbing, volunteering or any other type of services.
School supplies are needed all year round. Educators shell out lots of their own money and pay full cost for items for their supplies. Teacher trading post is a online donation and trading center that connects new, used and in-kind donations with our nation’s schools all year long. Teachers that have retired or left the classroom for one reason or another have all of their resources that they don’t know what to do with, this is where we come in.
Teachers need resources. Students need supplies. Classrooms need updated equipment. Schools need the community. The community needs partnerships. The Teacher trading post strengthens that partnership by giving teachers and donors the tools they need to make gift giving, trading and fundraising fast, fun and easy.
Our mission is to provide the educators the resources and to promote the love of learning to all of America’s students, without regard to social, economic or demographic circumstances. Also to raise awareness of classroom resource inequities facing America’s schools and their teachers. Giving the future teachers the resources to excel in their classrooms and rewarding back those teachers with a small token.
This is just the beginning of the many services that StL Teacher Trading Post will be able to offer. In the future we will have the ability to let teachers develop their own classroom wishlists and donors will be able to donate to specific classrooms and projects.
There are many teachers right now that were laid off or had to retire early and have lots of items that still can be used in the classroom. First year teachers can use as much help as they can get. So it has been doing well so far. But I would like it to go farther so that teachers can post their own projects and donors can donate directly to them. I also would like to add advertisement for teacher products as well.
How We Will Give Back to the Community:
I plan on getting donors to donate either product or money and giving those first year teachers items for their classrooms. Trying to give to those teachers who put in items on their wish lists.
